Careers
in Conversation
Before travelling thousands of miles to embark on a course of study
in the U.K. you will first need to navigate your way through the
maze of options that are available to you. Starting a course without
a clear idea as to where it might lead is like beginning a journey
without knowing where the road ends.
Through
one-to-one guidance interviews we can help you to find out about
your skills, your abilities, your interests and then what you can
achieve with them so that you can consider and explore a range of
closely matching career ideas.
Our
professionally qualified careers advisers offer an all age guidance
service so that you can identify a course of study in line with
your career goals safe in the knowledge that your decision to enrol
is a right one.
The
Accomplished Application
Turning the prospect of a job into a definite offer of employment
can be fraught with difficulty. Yet the right CV or application
form can go along way towards turning a tentative job enquiry into
an offer of employment.
So
often people fall short of recognising their skills and misjudge
their own capabilities. We can ensure that on paper you are able
to present yourself as a dynamic individual capable of expressing
your full potential. In this way you will be able to convey quality
expressions of interest that readily convey your suitability for
employment.
The
High Performance Interview
Although a good application will often get your in the door you
may see the prospect of an up and coming job interview as a formidable
hurdle. If this is true for you think about your job interview as
an opportunity for you to become a valued employee and a chance
for the interviewer to get to know you as a potential member of
staff. Preparing for an interview with this philosophy in mind can
make a great difference to the way you think, feel and behave in
the interview situation. We can help you to perform well at the
interview stage whether your concern is how to deal with those tricky
"what if?" questions or simply how to relax.
The
Morrisby Profile
One of our key successes in helping people to realise their full
potential is the Morrisby Profile. This is a series of assessments
which together will provide valuable information on your abilities
and the sort of learning and work setting that would suit you best.
You
will receive a personal and detailed report describing your abilities,
preferred work style and a range of closely matching job areas.
The Morrisby Profile offers an ideal opportunity for you to explore
your skills and abilities in advance of having to make key decisions
so that you can plan for the future with confidence and success.
Personality
Type Indicators (PTI)
You are a unique individual and nobody can say other wise. However,
you will tend to have a preference in how you relate to the world
around you and other people. Have you ever wondered why talking
to strangers taxes your reserves but energises others, why your
desk is neat and tidy when somebody else's appears chaotic and messy,
why a sudden change of plan exasperates you but excites your colleague,
why some us like the detail and others paint the world with broad
brush strokes? It is because we all have our own personality preferences.
Have
you ever noticed the way in which you naturally fold your arms?
Next time you do it make a note as to which way is more comfortable
for you -right hand over left or left hand over right. Try it and
you'll realise that you have a preference for folding one of your
arms more naturally over the other. If you have a go at folding
your arms the other way you will probably find it quite awkward
and you actually have to think about what you are doing. The same
idea applies when exploring your personality preferences. That is
not to say that one preference is wrong and another right but rather
that we need to understand ourselves better and appreciate why other
people are different.
In
everyday life you will behave in a manner that reflects your personality
preference. Gaining an understanding of yourself brings its own
rewards in recognising your strengths, determining career choice,
communicating better with others, appreciating how and why others
are different, improving your performance in the work place, reducing
your stress levels and in motivating yourself to get more out of
life.
